Environmental Checklists for Buildings and Grounds
1. Here is a handy checklist for items to green your church buildings, your church grounds, and your congregational practices. The list stands on its own, and it also correlates with the Environmental Guide for Congregations, Their Buildings and Grounds, a manual available on our site for free downloading (see home page under “Manuals”).
2. We are also passing along a check list developed by a Presbyterian Church in Alabama. This checklist functions well as an Environmental Audit of Buildings and Grounds.
We suggest that you work through one or both of these checklists to be comprehensive in your efforts to green the congregation. Work with the property committee for some items. For others, cooperate with the office staff, the altar guild, the educational committee, the coffee hour group, the kitchen volunteers, the hospitality committee, and so on. Share ownership for your efforts to a lot of people.
When you have done some items, let the congregation know your efforts. And encourage people to make similar changes in their homes.
