Resources for a Four-week “Season of Creation” in the Church Year: Plan Now
Plan now for a Season of Creation. There are now extensive resources for an alternative four Sundays for a Season of Creation in the lectionary three year cycle. The church focuses on the life of Christ in the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent and Easter. The lectionary year focuses on the life of the Spirit in the Pentecost season. Why not also focus on a season of God the creator? Each of these Sundays focuses on some aspect of God’s creation, such as water, land, forest, and mountain.
This seasonal alternative began in Australia. The Web of Creation has helped to prepare the same materials for use in the United States. There are now alternative lessons, liturgies, Bible studies, and other resources available to download free. Use them as presented or adapt them to your church. Use them for the suggested four weeks leading up to St. Francis Day in early October. Do fewer than four Sundays if that works best for you. Or spread the Sunday celebrations throughout the year.
Many churches have completed the three year cycle and are ready to continue their celebrations. Please join in planning for this special season.
